There are many things in life that give people pleasure, smoking cigarettes is one of them. Excessive smoking habbit can lead to various health problems. It can lead to a smoking addiction that is life threatening. The negative health effects of this addiction have been publisized through advertisments in TV, paper, radio and magazines and also through journals. Even though people have been informed about these results, they still smoke. Studies and investigations have revealed answers to the question as to why people smoke even after information on problems have been provided to them. For retailers, cigarettes selling business is profitable. That is why, inspite of the warning that tobacco and cigarette smoking is injurious to health, cigarettes are avialable everywhere. But now, tobacco companies have taken the intiative to help lessen the menace that tobaco and cigarettes are causing to public health. Nicotine pills, anti- smoking programs and pills are some of the measures taken to reduce the hazards of smoking.

In case of health insurance, cigarette smoking habit means more health costs for the inurance company that pays the policy as well as for the insured person. Long term addictive smokers face problems like absenteeism and increase of other negative health issues. Even though people are aware of all these problems, it is difficult for them to quit smoking and come out of the addiction.
