The Relationship between Smoking and Pregnancy

You can seriously damage your mouth and throat area if you continue smoking. It is important that you give up the habit as a professional singer. Although the so called “smoking voice” has been taken to be “sexy”, it is very difficult to control such a voice. You will notice gradual deterioration in your vocal qualities and powers. The fact that your lungs are being damaged means that you are unlikely to have a long career in music. Instead you will be looking forward to a life of chemotherapy. Forget those glamorous photo shoots that are meant to promote the iconic cigarette. When you are stuck in a hospital bed and strangers are sticking tubes into your body, the harmful effects of smoking will come back to haunt you.

The impact of smoking on pregnant
When we talk about smoking and pregnancy, the figures are shocking.  It is estimated that smoking causes about 6% of prenatal deaths. It is responsible for 17-26% of low birth weight cases. There is the figure of 7-10% of pre term deliveries that are linked to smoking during pregnancy. This habit which you might consider to be harmless could in fact increase the chance that you will suffer a miscarriage. It might also mean that your baby might turn out to be retarded in some way. When women become pregnant they will become a bit more discerning about certain habits especially of those habits which are likely to harm their baby. There is no doubt that smoking will be harmful to the pregnant mum and the baby. You should be looking forward to having a healthy baby instead of worrying about the possible impact of poor planning methods.

The health of your child is of paramount importance. Therefore you should do everything in your power to ensure that you do not smoke while you are pregnant. The doctors have repeatedly warning pregnant mothers about the dangers that are associated with smoking. If you fail to take notice of the hints that are provided then you are placing your child in danger. That is not the responsible thing to do and might mean that you have to care for the child when they are besieged by sundry health problems as a result of the smoking that you did whilst you were pregnant. Nicotine and carbon are not the best introduction that you can give to your child when they are coming into the world. You may also have circulatory problems that will harm the development of your child. It is important that the mother is kept as healthy as possible during pregnancy.

Knowing that smoking tends to harm the health of the people who do it means that pregnant women keep away from the habit. If you are a smoker and manage to make the right moves to get rid of the habit whilst pregnant, there is absolutely no reason why you should go back to it. Once the door is closed on smoking and pregnancy then you should not resurrect that problem.
