Electronic cigarette is a cigarette which functions with the help of a battery   which contains nicotine or non nicotine components in the form of vapor. Hence, it is also known as vapor cigarette. The vapor provides the user with a feeling of inhaling nicotine even though there is absence of any combustion due to smoke. When it comes to looks, these electronic cigarettes like ball pens and screwdrivers but not like plastic cigarette or cigar .

There are two varieties available:
-Refilled electronic cigarettes with replaceable refills.
-Disposable or one time use electronic cigarettes.

Electronic cigarette was started by a pharmacist in China known as Hon Lik in the year 2003.

Composition of Electronic Cigarettes:

It consists of three important components:
-Cartridge also known as Mouthpiece: is usually made of plastic and contains flavored vapor of nicotine (different amounts in different e-cigarettes).it can easily by replaced by a new one.
-Atomizer: atomizer which is also the element heater actually works to convert nicotine into vapor. The average life of an atomizer is around 3 months to 6 months. It is also one of the frequently replaced elements of the cigarette.
-Battery: Batteries for e-cigarettes contain lithium-ion which is regarded to be the largest part in the body of an e-cigarette. Battery can either be manual or automatic depending on its ability to enable   electronic airflow sensor automatically so that the smoker can inhale it. It also contains timed out cutoff switch to prevent overheating of the contents and also comes with a LED which is colored to give it a false impression of ignition as in regular cigarettes. Car, USBs or personal charging circuits can be used for charging these batteries.
Electronic cigarettes come with both nicotine and non nicotine compositions. Cartridges consist of the e-liquid in the form of plastic container and also the mouthpiece. One can choose from a wide range of flavors as per the taste for example: apple, orange, strawberry, chocolate etc and it is also available with various amounts of nicotine ranging from high to low so one can choose accordingly as per one's requirements.Catridges also come in different sizes as per the liquid container's size. Some cartridges can be interchanged but it all depends on the technology used by a particular manufacturer for the electronic cigarette ,However interchanging of cartridges is not recommended as the atomizer may heat up the components it should not and causing serious burns to one's tongue and lips. It may also cause other health issues for the smoker.

Types of Cartridges:

-Pre-filled Cartridges: These cartridges are usually available in multiple packs and consist of nicotine ranging from 0 to 18 mg. One can also choose from other flavors like lemon, strawberry etc.
-Reusing Cartridges: Re-used or re-using cartridges are cheaper and economical options to the pre filled ones. It can be a saving option for you.
-Cartomisers: They been launched just recently and Cartomisers combine both atomizers and cartridges into one.
